Style or Steal: DKNY v ASOS

It’s all about the big fur coat this season, and i’m glad because it’s already freezing in Manchester! I’ve had my eye on the DKNY collection for a while, their monochrome pieces are so dreamy. I knew it wouldn’t be long before a high street genius graced us with a more purse friendly alternative, which is twice as nice.

River Island Press Day SS14

It’s started and it’s getting me all so very excited for the new season! (even though I can’t even THINK about wearing less than 3 layers at this moment in time) River Island is one of the first giants to kick off SS14 press day previews, and it looks like we are in for a treat. In a nutshell, pastels are here to stay, summer is going to see us rocking the 70s vibe…. think oversize glam and St. Tropez, and skirts and  trophy jackets are gonna be BIG! Here is a sneak peak….

Trophy jackets and pastel prints a plenty…

Last Night’s #stylechat in Pictures

Hosted by @Stylecaster, #stylechat is a twitter based chat which anyone and everyone can get involved! Last nights topics of conversation included  everything from white denim to neon pumps.

Image

@NicoleMillerNYC posted this picture of neon pumps being worn with a co-ordinating outfit. It was fairly noted that neon pumps are the perfect transitional piece from summer into autumn.

Next up some words of wisdom… White Denim is here to stay. Team with a pastel pink overcoat and pumps for a Winter Ice look. Pastels will be massive too.

8 Essential Trends for 2013

Image

New year means a new season which means new trends! The high street is slowly filling up with fashions inspired by the Spring/Summer Runway. These are my 8 essential trends that you’ll need to get you through the season!

Ditsy Florals

Spring is always about the blossom and bloom, this year being no exception. The upcoming seasons trendiest floral patterns are vintage, understated ditsy prints. I love this button up midi dress from the Chelsea Girl Range at River Island, £25.

Graphic Print Heels

Photographic prints are going to be huge this season, whether it be on clothing or accessories. These particular heels are from Next, £38. They will be perfect for wedding season!

Monochrome Madness

Black and White stripes are EVERYWHERE… Balmain SS/13 Collection kicked off this trend which has exploded onto the high street. Zara have an amazing range of bold stripe workwear including blazers, blouses and knitwear. This dress is one of my favourites, and value for money buys from H&M, £19.99.

Gastronomical Galaxy Prints

Surfacing the high street in AW, and back with a bang for Spring, galaxy print seperates are  a necessity for the season. Team perfectly with plain block colours for a stylish, casual look. These leggings are from Topshop, £22.

An apple a day…

The only bag to be seen on your arm for spring… the doctors bag. This ASOS number gets my vote.. classic black, real leather, and I love the zip around the base. ASOS, £75.

Statement Belts

As seen on Katy Perry, Jessie J and Rihanna, the statement belt is the only accessory you need to jazz up a bodycon dress or to dress up a daytime look. ASOS, River Island, Miss Selfridge and Topshop have all embraced this trend, my favourite being from River Island, £15.

Colour Block Heels

Nothing says summer like a bold, strappy, colourblock heel. These particular heels will update your AW Navy dress into a sophisticated summery look. Also available in other colours, River Island, £70.

True Blue

There’s always a colour that stands out from the rest each season, and this season there is a reason to be blue! I love the cut out shoulder detail on this particular dress, available from Miss Selfridge, £42.

The Big Christmas Party Edit

Image

From your peplums to your pretty lace, i’ve got it covered for christmas! For as little as £18, everybody can afford to look stylish and sexy over the festive season. I’ve gathered the best variety on the high streets, of all the trends for all of the ages. Here’s what I found, I hope you enjoy!

Image

Berry, Black and Navy are three key colours for this season. Peplums are great for hiding a tummy and giving a flattering, tailored look. However if you are fortunate enough to pull off a bodycon, spice it up with sheer sleeves or metallic foil prints. The classic satin shift dress from Mango will look great on almost any shape, and suitable for all occasions too.

If you feel like treating yourself (and you should!) go for one of these gorgeous numbers. My absolute FAVE is the flapper dress from Topshop, £55. Black and gold are classic, glamorous colours for the festive season. For something that will pull you in at the waist and make your legs appear slimmer, go for a tutu style piece like this one from Miss Selfridge, £45, or a skater style dress like the one pictured from Warehouse, £50. I love the studded bodycon dress from Mango, £69.99, which is perfect if you want to emphasise the shoulders and make your torso appear smaller.

If santa is buying your festive season outfit this year then take your pick! Sequins are Sparkles are perfect for this time of year and they never go out of fashion! Think of it as an investment… you’ll wear them again and again, and again (or at least that’s what you can tell your other half when he finds the receipt…) Red satin is also a christmas classic, perfect for the smart, sophisticated woman. Otherwise you can be bang on trend with the teal jacquard dress from Oasis, £95.
